Features

- All piglets placed on the alp must be from a certified IP-SUISSE or Coop Naturafarm pig-breeding farm. The fattening period (25 to 60 kgs) takes place on the alp or on a certified IP-SUISSE or Coop Naturafarm fattening farm. Prior to slaughter, the alpine pigs must be summered during locally usual period but not less than 60 days (Art 6, BAlV).

- Ecological use of the high-quality fresh whey during cheese production on cow alps

- Group housing with generous access to pastures

- The number of pigs on the alp must not exceed the number of cows

- No feeding of animal proteins or genetically modified components

Specifics of Inspections

The label Silvestri Alpine Pigs is inspected by the Inspection Service SAP since 2015
 
Each new participating alp is initially inspected, ordinary inspections take place every 2nd year
