New Guidelines for the Transportation of Label Animals

New Guidelines for the Transportation of Label Animals

From March 1st, 2019, the new guidelines of the Inspection Service SAP regarding transportation of label animals are in effect. In cooperation with the representatives of the label owners the following changes have been agreed to:

§ 2.19 §§ 2 Measuring of Vehicles in General

Vehicles with loading bays on three levels used for transport of label animals without announcement to the Inspection Service will suffer a severe reclamation in the following control.

§ 3.17 §§ 2 Maximum available Space

To prevent harm, e.g. in emergency brakings, the animals should not have too much space avilable neither. There should not be more space per animal than twice the minimum area required.
Adjustment of the evaluation criteria: „more than one animal body length“ is corrected to „more than 1.5 times the animal's body length", thus:
When the animals have more than twice the minimum area required (after deduction of 0.1 m2 fault tolerance) available and the compartment depth is more than 1.5 times the animals' body length, a medium reclamation results.

§ 4.5 §§ 5 (added) Cumulative Transportation Time

Locations and facilities used for more than 2 hours for overnight or temporary housing of label animals must be reported to the Inspection Service SAP. Noncompliances result in a severe reclamation.

§ 4.8 Label Commerce Rules

All of the in appendix 3 ("Label Requirements") of this guideline listed specific commerce rules of the corresponding label must be fulfilled.
Adjustment of the evaluation criteria: this paragraph applies only if the criticised item is not mentioned in any other section of these guidelines or if it is valuated more strictly due to agreements with the respective label owner.
